Kingswells Community Centre and Webster Park

Kingswells Community Centre and Webster Park provide welcoming facilities for use by all members of the community and are continuing to develop and grow for the needs of our future generations.

-About Us
The village is lucky enough to have two community facilities, the main centre right in the heart of Kingswells and Webster Park on the outskirts, on the way to Bucksburn. The main centre holds a large sports hall and coffee shop which provides a large schedule of activities and events. Webster Park is a smaller studio facilities, but has a large outdoor football pitch and multi-use games area.

As well as our schedule of activities, we are proud to provide a wide range of services and events tailored to our community's needs and to help in today's climate. Also see 10 Reasons to Support Community Centres.

-History

Kingswells has a rich history, but in the 1990's the village grew rapidly with many housing developments.

It was this time that a major developer that was building in the region was asked to provide amenity buildings for the area. It was at the beginning of this decade that the Community Centre was built.

The building is owned by Aberdeen City Council, but it is run by an independent Management Committee who are local living or working people that volunteer to have a say how the centre is run. The Committee employ three staff to run the centre day to day, and make sure that it is being used to its potential for the community.

Webster was built in the late 90's again by a developer working in the village. It serves as a smaller dance and exercise studio, but has also seen it's fair share of parties and events.

The outside boasts a football pitch and recently built Multi Surface Games Area (MUGA), providing the area with a large choice of activities.

Current opportunity

Kingswells Community Centre and Webster Park provide welcoming facilities for use by all members of the community and are continuing to develop and grow for the needs of our future generations. We currently require a volunteer to be a Treasurer on our Management Committee and would welcome anyone with finance experience to join us in helping develop our centres further and provide quality experiences for the community. It would involve attending regular 6 weekly committee meetings and liaising with the Manager of the centre to produce financial reports to present at the meetings. There would also be end of year reports required to be prepared for submitting for auditing. We are a friendly group and we even provide biscuits at our meetings! A fantastic opportunity to help the local community. For more information please contact Gillian Millar, Chairperson at email: gill.millar@virgin.net or telephone: 07891088660.
