TLC – Befriending Service

At TLC our vision is to help care for our community. We believe in meeting the real needs of people. The TLC Befriending Service provides befriending for older adults in a care home/sheltered housing setting alongside other befrienders in south Aberdeen.

Current opportunity

We are recruiting volunteers to assist with a befriending service for older adults in a care home/sheltered housing setting alongside other befrienders. Main tasks include: -befriend service users, improving their quality of life and reduce social isolation by spending time and share activities with the client. -flexible times available to suit volunteers. -establish and maintain appropriate boundaries within the befriending relationship. -deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive material. -undertake the TLC Volunteer befriender induction programme and attend support and training meetings. -report any concerns to the project co-ordinator. -complete the necessary administrative tasks (Record of Companion Contact) -work within a non-discriminatory framework. -A volunteer befriender will not be asked to meet any personal care needs A great opportunity to help and make a real difference to the lives of older people.
