Dundee City Council Sheltered Housing Service provides housing and support services for older people throughout Dundee. Many of the complexes have garden areas that tenants would like to improve or look after themselves. Garden Assistants will encourage and assist tenants with light gardening tasks such as weeding, planting hanging baskets and growing vegetables. The volunteers will work alongside staff and other volunteers to develop and expand garden related activities. The purpose of gardening activities is to reduce isolation and allow tenants to socialise with each other while enjoying practical tasks.
