Lochee Community Group

To promote physical, mental and social wellbeing to the communities of Dundee City. The group will also apply for funding from external bodies and to raise funds when appropriate

Current opportunities

We recently opened the Community Shop on Lochee High Street and are looking for motivated and friendly people to help in all aspects within the shop. The role will involve sorting stock, pricing items, dealing with customers and any other work associated within the shop. Training on all aspects of this will be given. We also have opportunities for volunteers who perhaps do not want to work in the shop but would rather carry out some textile sorting or upcycling - we have storage in the old Levi's factory where all of our donations are sorted before being taken to the shop.

We are looking to serve the community by offering low cost goods and furniture and aim to keep as much ouot of landfill as possible. This could include collecting donations and taking them back to our warehouse or delivering them to customers' homes. We require items tto be prepared and ready for sale, this could include cleaning and repairing.

The admin worker will be required to use microsoft office and windows 10, with the willingness to learn how to use WARP it. Waste Action Reuse Portal is a national system where organisations particularly NHS, councils & universities can offer items they no longer need. Up until now we have obtained a lot from the portal and now have access to lots of items to list for others. You will be confident in taking pictures of items listing giving measurements and a small description. This is an hours/days to suit and will involve visiting our partner warehouses in Wester Gourdie. On these occasions 2 persons will go.
