Families Outside

Charity registered in Scotland SC025366

Families Outside works to improve outcomes for children and families affected by imprisonment.

Our vision is for families affected by imprisonment to be treated with justice and fairness so that they can live healthy, active lives free from stigma and disadvantage.

Current opportunity

Families Outside currently works in partnership with Denis Law's Streetsport in Aberdeen to deliver a monthly peer support session called Club 10 for families who are currently or have been in the past affected by imprisonment. These sessions are open to parents, carers and children and young people of all ages and are funded by BBC Children in Need. The majority of these sessions take place within the Robert Gordon University Sport building at Garthdee. Occasional holiday trips are planned for the groups, these will take place in various locations across Aberdeen. We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer who can contribute towards the development and delivery of the groups; engage and interact with children, young people and parents/carers who attend the groups; and build a positive and supportive relationship with the people who attend the groups by providing a safe, supportive and confidential environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is interested in working with families affected by the criminal justice system in a busy, group environment.
