Current opportunities

The volunteer broker role is a peer mentoring role where brokers support other volunteers as they progress into their own volunteering opportunity. The role is to support volunteers into their chosen opportunity by going through the registration process, either face to face or by telephone, inputting data into the database. We take reference details from each volunteer before making any referrals. We also discuss and select potential opportunities based on the information they provide. Each volunteer enters our follow up process where they are contacted regularly in order to monitor their progress. As part of the follow up you will be contacting the volunteers and organisations to support both in making the volunteering relationship happen and to make the journey into volunteering as simple as possible. Due to Covid we have had to have a flexible approach to our opportunities so depending on the restrictions that are active at any point the opportunities may come under one of the following options: Open for recruitment and placement Open for recruitment and risk assessed placement activity Open for some recruitment and some risk assessed placement activity Open for some recruitment but currently closed to placement activity Closed for all recruitment and placement activity

We are looking for a volunteer receptionist for our Footcare Service, we would like someone with a warm and friendly personality who can help our service run smoothly. The role is to be responsible for greeting the clients and making them feel welcomed and at ease prior to their appointment, you will be required to check that the clients details are correct, completing any paperwork that is incomplete, create a new record for any new clients, ensure that the client signs their form and that the date is correct for their attendance. Keep the area clean and tidy. **Please note we are looking for volunteers who LIVE in West Dunbartonshire ** Would you like to get involved with your local community in times of need? Do you have a couple of hours to spare? Volunteers must be 18 or over. We are looking for people to provide Telephone support to individuals who are at risk of loneliness as a result of self-isolation. We are looking for people to collect shopping, medication or other essential supplies for someone who is self-isolating/Vulnerable and delivering these supplies to their home.

If Covid has taught us anything, it's that not being on-line leaves you at a real disadvantage. Every news bulletin and TV programme directs us to websites. The dentist sends an appointment by text. And GPs are offering video consultations. Great opportunities for many, but for others in our communities this isn’t convenient, just confusing. The on-line world can seem very scary when you don’t know the right buttons to press…or even how to switch the thing on! The aim of the APEL initiative is to support people to feel they are involved in their communities and build their confidence to be as active as they can - we need your help to make it happen. With your support, someone in your neighbourhood will come to realise that digital ‘stuff’ is easier than they ever thought – and they could maybe even pass that knowledge onto someone else who needs it too. You will spend some time helping people learn how to use smartphones, tablets and (sometimes) computers. You will help them to explore the internet, get signed up to social media and maybe even sign up for a shopping spree! In return you will have the satisfaction that your support has made all the difference in someone else’s life. Please help us. You will understand that for everyone safety you will be asked to go through a PVG (police) check.
