East Dunbartonshire Arts Council (EDAC) supports the development of the arts in the voluntary sector. EDAC offers advice, training, support and small grants to groups and young people within all aspects of Art and Culture in the local authority area. This covers Music, Dance, Visual Arts, Drama, Writing and Heritage.
EDAC is looking for new volunteer members for its committee.
• Time commitment is for one evening meeting monthly from September to May . (additional email communications)
• Meetings alternate between east and west of the local authority and sometimes are hybrid
The meetings discuss issues related to Arts and Culture and take decisions on the awarding of small grants. Our committee needs volunteers with backgrounds in as many fields of Arts and Culture as possible
Additionally: As publicizing our grants is key, we are interested in hearing from someone who is social media savvy. We also need to replace our IT guru, who is moving away, who runs the website and hosting for us.
We are looking for individuals who can bring expertise from any aspect of the Arts to assist in developing the sector, you need not be a member of a group at this time. However have experience in a professional or community capacity. Interested in supporting your community and maintain a grant giving body within East Dunbartonshire.
Currently , we can award up to £500 to a group project and £100 to support a young person. We offered support to groups during Covid to help them operate online and are encouraging and supporting website development which we ‘host’. Traditionally, we offered grants to help young people attend courses and events, supported small festivals and enabled groups to host speakers and demonstrations. EDAC is a vital route to supporting small to medium community based groups and events with a cultural interest. If you think you could help support and expand the skills of the committee we would love to hear from individuals.
