Helping out at the Food Cupboard Drop-in involves one or more of the following shared tasks: On Saturday morning: shopping for basic items in (currently) Aldi Myrekirk (requires a car or van); collecting donated items from ASDA Myrekirk (or other locations); delivering items to the church (requires coordination with a keyholder); setting up tables and serving stations, sorting purchased and donated items into crates for distribution. On Sunday afternoon: arriving early to assist at the drop-in (running between 1.00 and 2.00 p.m.), manning the door to let in clients one at a time; manning the distribution point to give out milk, loo paper, pet food; monitoring to ensure fair distribution and assisting where needed; manning the tea/coffee station; being a presence to show a friendly face and chat to clients where appropriate; clearing up at the end, vacuuming the floor, and washing-up, etc., in the kitchen.
