Current opportunities

Do you want to make a difference to premature and sick babies and their families? Join Bliss’ amazing community of volunteers to give vital support to families. Over 6,000 babies are born premature or sick in Scotland every year. Bliss Scotland was established to provide support to those babies and their families’ right across Scotland. Bliss Scotland is part of Bliss, the country’s leading charity for babies born premature or sick. Our Community Ambassadors are a network of volunteers who help make a difference to babies born premature and sick around the country by raising awareness of Bliss Scotland’s work. Community Ambassadors work to increase the presence of Bliss Scotland in their local community by promoting the work we do to help the thousands of babies born premature or sick every year in Scotland. As a Community Ambassador you would be representing Bliss Scotland to develop relationships with schools, local businesses, community groups and other organisations in your area that are interested in supporting our important work. This opportunity is also flexible so that anyone can do it (our volunteers can work from home and in their local community). Excellent support and relevant training (we have a Bliss Learning Programme) is provided to all volunteers. A fantastic opportunity to help and make a real difference. For more details please contact Laura Anne Mackay at email: lauraannemackay@bliss.org.uk or tel.: 07458010318.

Would you like to make a difference to the lives of some of Scotland’s most vulnerable babies and their families? About Us Bliss Scotland is the leading charity for premature and sick babies: our vision is that every baby born premature or sick in Scotland has the best chance of survival and quality of life. Bliss Scotland is part of the Bliss UK group of charities, and provides particular oversight of and support for our work across Scotland. The Role We are recruiting for new dedicated Bliss Scotland Trustees, based in Scotland, to join our passionate and committed Board, to support the charity’s governance and overall strategic direction. About you We need people who can help us achieve our ambitious plans, who are good at reviewing and challenging those plans to help us to improve them, and who have the time and skills to commit to this important role. In particular, we are keen to hear from applicants with background, skills and experience in the following area: • NHS Scotland / health experience, in particular from a Health Board / management / commissioning perspective. We are also keen to hear from applicants with a diversity of experiences and backgrounds to ensure our board fully reflects our beneficiaries. Previous board/trustee experience is not necessary and we welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds. Why apply? As a trustee you will join the charity at a critical time as we address the impact of COVID-19 on neonatal care while also continuing to deliver our 2019-2022 strategy. There is so much more to do for sick and tiny babies in Scotland and to provide much needed emotional and practical help for their families. Bliss Scotland is passionately committed to ensuring that all babies and their families have the best possible care wherever they are born. Join us to help us make a difference! We really value the diversity of ideas and skills that Trustees can bring, and welcome applications that can help us reflect this on our Board. For further information go to https://www.bliss.org.uk/about-us/jobs for a full recruitment pack. Applications are by CV and covering letter, to be submitted by 9am on Monday 14 December 2020 to: recruitment@bliss.org.uk with the subject ‘Trustee Recruitment Bliss Scotland’.
