we are looking to recruit volunteers who would be able to help specifically with the fund raising side of our charity.
We are a transport charity for the NHS and use kitted out motorcycles and specialist vehicles to transport items for the NHS, surgical equipment, blood samples for testing, case notes, special feeds and controlled drugs between NHS sites and sometimes private addresses.
We attend various events throughout the year with a bike or two and engage with the public, explaining what we do and allowing kids of all ages to sit on the bikes and have their photo taken.
The role would involve attending these events, chatting with the public, assisting folk on and off the bikes and collecting any donations, either in collection tins or with contactless payments.
These events generally take place at weekends, this year we are attending car shows, Highland Games, shopping centres and have been invited invited to Ayr air show. These events are usually split into morning and afternoon shifts although a full day volunteering would be fine as well. Volunteers will be issued with ID for collecting and possibly a charity branded fleece or top for those who can commit to long term volunteering. Generally we do not offer travel expenses but for events further afield transport is usually available from our base at QEUH.
Long term volunteers can take on more responsibilities if they wish by helping to find events to attend or organising these events logistics, ie people attending and vehicles to take etc.
While a car or bike licence would be useful, it is certainly not required, however for those who can/want to drive, a clean, current licence held at least 3 years is required for our insurance policy if they are driving one of our vehicles.
