Current opportunity

Parkhead Housing Association is delighted to be working alongside Fareshare and PDC to deliver a fantastic project for the East End of Glasgow. Our relationship with Fareshare gives us access to grocery brands you will find in the supermarkets for less. The Pantry food will consist of surplus stock, end-of-line products and incorrectly labelled food. At a fixed cost of just £2.50 per visit, members receive approximately £15 worth of food. Members are able to choose the items they want from 5 food categories. There are no recurring payments and you can pay by cash or card. To make the most of the ingredients you can purchase from the Pantry we will look to introduce the provision of recipes, cooking demonstrations and cooking classes all using the fantastic food supply from the Pantry. The Drill Hall Pantry needs volunteers to help run both shops at our Parkhead and Shettleston locations. We need volunteers who are pleasant and want to work in a community-based environment. Working within our two shops, roles would include: - Stock Management - helping take in and out away our weekly food deliveries - Food Handling - breaking down catering size packs of food into smaller portions or cooking off pastries etc - Bulk cooking - we prep 250 meals per week from the surplus food we receive. - Customer Service - serving members who come into the shops These are some of the tasks that come up week to week but we have roles for all skills and abilities. We'll train you on our till - it's very simple to use and explain our shop's work. There is a mix of staff and volunteers on every shift, so you'll never be alone.
