Current opportunities

We are looking for friendly individuals to join us as volunteers, providing support to people living locally who are blind or have a visual impairment. In particular, we have a client based in Inverness who loves swimming and going out for walks and for coffee/lunch and would love to a volunteer Sighted Guide/Befriender to enable her to fulfil her wishes and live her life to the full. If you have a couple hours a month and would like to make a difference whilst having fun, we’d love to hear from you!

If you love a relaxed, friendly chat on the phone and you’d like to be able to do this whilst also making a genuine impact to someone locally who is blind or visually impaired, then we would love to hear from you! Just a simple phone call once a week can make the difference that helps our clients overcome the effects of isolation and loneliness, and is something they really look forward to. We are looking for friendly home-based volunteers who can check in regularly with our clients by phone and take some time to make sure they are doing okay. We will provide full training and disclosure checks and match you with client(s) with similar interests and hobbies.

We are looking for friendly individuals to join us as volunteers, providing support to people living locally who are blind or have a visual impairment attending their monthly meetings at our Visually Impaired Peer Support Groups. Our groups run monthly at various locations across Highland and Western Isles and are a lifeline for our clients, many of whom suffer social isolation and loneliness, to meet with friends and receive support from Sight Action’s services.

We are looking for friendly individuals to join us as volunteers, providing support to people living locally who are blind or have a visual impairment. We will match you one-to-one with clients who share similar interests and hobbies and we ask you to spend a few hours a week or fortnight with them, helping them to live their life to the full. In particular, we have a client based in Aviemore who, before losing her sight, was an avid hillwalker. She would love to continue this and is looking for a walking companion/Sighted Guide to join her on trails across the Cairngorms. If you have a couple hours a month and would like to make a difference whilst enjoying your own hobby, we’d love to hear from you!
