CatStrand is the central hub of the Glenkens Community & Arts Trust (GCAT). Its main aim is to bring much needed activities, services and facilities to this geographically isolated area through a year round programme of community and arts events. It offers a range of community services including a bus service, newsletter, drop-in advice sessions and free internet access and also acts as a hub for local tourism and heritage information. CatStrand provides the base for the Connecting in Communities project; which provides events and opportunities for Glenkens residents, including: Fitness, Yoga, Tai Chi, Adult Dance/Movement, Ukulele Group(s), Digital Photography, Singing and the Glenkens Men's Shed in Balmaclellan. Catstrand currently has a number of different opportunities for volunteers of all ages to get involved with.
