RSPB Scotland Orkney Office

Charity registered in Scotland SC037654

RSPB Scotland is part of the RSPB, the country's largest nature conservation charity, inspiring everyone to give nature a home. Together with our partners, we protect threatened birds and wildlife so our towns, coast and countryside will teem with life once again. We play a leading role in BirdLife International, a worldwide partnership of nature conservation organisations.

Current opportunities

We need enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to look after or place boxes for us in shops, cafes, vets, pubs, hotels and leisure centres close to your home. You would also be required to bank the donations received. The boxes need to be visited every month to refill with more badges and collect and bank the money. We have a secure web-based system which allows you to keep a record of where your boxes are, report the cash you collect and order replacement badges and boxes. You will also have the support of a local team leader as well as dedicated office staff. Could you place a box in your local shop, or have one on the reception desk at work?

Would you like to help us keep our birdwatching hides at Birsay Moors (on Burgar Hill) and Cottascarth clean and tidy? We’re looking for a volunteer for each of these hides to pop in once a fortnight to give them a quick sweep and tidy, and to check that everything is looking good, so living fairly local to them would be an advantage. A great chance to do some birdwatching whilst helping us keep our hides spick and span, and we’ll provide everything you’ll need.
