As part of TLC-Foodbanks commitment to serving our community, we have recently partnered with the Trussell Trust in order to fulfil our aim of meeting the basic food needs of people in crisis across the South of Aberdeen and the surrounding areas. We currently have volunteer opportunities for people to assist in our vital work as Foodbank Centre Volunteers. All help makes a real difference to the local communities we support and is greatly appreciated. Tasks include: •Welcome clients to the food-bank centre •Receive vouchers, check validity, and prepare food parcels according to the standard packing lists •Make refreshments and tidy up as required during the session •Offer a listening ear and signpost clients, as required, to further support, using information from the signposting folder/leaflets •Ensure that clients sign the packing list when they are given their food parcel and that all vouchers and packing lists are stored securely within the bounds of data protection •Check stock for imminent ‘best before’ dates, place out-of-date food in appropriate box in store room for disposal and record the action •Wear branded clothing and a name badge during the session •Work under the guidance of the session leader and report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the project manager/session supervisor •Potential stock room duties for those wishing to work more behind the scenes. For more information please contact Tim McIlroy, Operations Manager on email: tim@tlc.org.uk or tel.: 07542 049898.
