Legion Scotland (Aberdeen, Banffshire & Kincardine)

Charity registered in Scotland SC007785

Since 1921 we have provided support to veterans and their families.

When servicemen and women return to civilian life after serving with the Armed Forces some are in need of community and friendship, maybe as a result of their experiences in the services or purely because they are no longer part of the ‘military family’ they had come to rely. We make a difference every day to the lives of those veterans through our comradeship and befriending programme, developing strong communities and supporting remembrance.

Our large family network is spread across Scotland and helps support veterans and their families to get on with their lives and assists those who require assistance.

Current opportunity

Volunteers are essential to Legion Scotland’s ability to support veterans in the community. We are currently recruiting volunteers to enable us to deliver the new ‘Veterans Community Support Service’. Trained and supported volunteers will be matched with Armed Forces veterans and then provide a befriending relationship in the community – this could take the form of a regular social visit to relieve isolation and loneliness, or else to provide assistance with more specific issues at other times – training and support are provided and volunteers will be PVG checked prior to contact with clients. This is not a personal care or advisory service. A tremendous opportunity to volunteer with Legion Scotland and support veterans. All volunteers are provided with excellent training, support and all assistance is greatly appreciated.
