Simpson House

Simpson House offers various services working with children, families and individuals affected by drug use. Simpson House Drugs Counselling Service provides drugs counselling to people using drugs or affected by drugs. Counsellors also see clients at HMP Edinburgh. The counselling service is accrediated by the Brithish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

Sunflower Garden works with children within the city of Edinburgh who are affected by drug or alcohol misuse in their families. The service is child friendly and child focussed in its work, providing a range of therapeutic services to children aged from 5 to 14 years old. The project aims to build resilience in children through improving self esteem, increasing confidence, and helping children to find ways of coping with their situations through expressing and managing their worries, feelings and fears.

Current opportunity

As a volunteer taxi buddy we require you to collect and escort children to and from school / home to Sunflower Garden, enabling vulnerable children to access the therapeutic support that otherwise they would be unable to access. The purpose of taxi buddies is to ensure that the children are safe, secure and relaxed on the way to and from the project, as well as connecting them with their carers at the end of each session.
