Water of Leith Conservation Trust

Charity registered in Scotland SC000015

The Aim of The Water of Leith Conservation Trust is to conserve and enhance the Water of Leith as a haven for wildlife and an educational and recreational resource for all.

Current opportunities

Help look after the Water of Leith. Volunteers carry out practical conservation tasks along the river and walkway in conjunction with City of Edinburgh Council Natural Heritage Service. This could be a river clean-up, tree or wildflower planting, meadow cutting, invasive plant control (May-July), vegetation control, footpath maintenance. Children of all ages are welcome if supervised by an adult.

We need volunteers to staff the reception desk, providing the first impression of the centre and the trust, welcoming visitors with a smile, giving help and advice ,making cups of tea and coffee and taking the money for cafe sales. Other duties may include preparing materials for the education and group visits.
