We all need to stay at home to protect ourselves and others. However, those who are well and not at risk can provide essential support for their family, friends and neighbours who cannot leave the house.

Queensferry Churches' Care in the Community

Charity registered in Scotland SC021833

We aim to provide for the welfare of older people living in the North West Rural Areas of Edinburgh and provide support and information to all carers. We do this by providing daycare, a befriending service, information resource for older people and work with carers by providing a carer support and information service.

Current opportunity

The main aim of Volunteer Befrienders is to reduce the social isolation of an older person by providing regular and agreed home visits. Volunteer befrienders are needed to visit an older person at an agreed time weekly/fortnightly for a minimum of one hour. Whenever possible, volunteers are matched with an older person with similar interests. The Volunteer Co-ordinator provides an introduction and remains in close contact with both the befriender and older person to cement the friendship.
