Fresh start runs a service for people who have experienced homelessness and have recently been offered a tenancy of their own. With the assistance of volunteers, Fresh Start offers both practical and emotional support through a variety of integrated services that are intended to help people manage the transition to independent living and to prevent the cyclical nature of homelessness.
As Pantry Till Assistant, this role includes a level of responsibility serving customers at the till and cash handling, a level of previous retail experience is an advantage
To assist clients in a short course of cooking lessons, courses are four weeks in length.
To follow health and safety procedures in the kitchen.
To demonstrate and encourage good Food Hygiene practices in the kitchen.
Liaising with the volunteer coordinator about the job, the client and any issues that arise.
Engaging with and supporting the clients during the cooking course.
Adhering to all Fresh Start policies and procedures, and respecting client confidentiality.
The purpose of this role is to maximise the amount of excess donations Fresh Start receives which cannot go into Starter Packs and can be sold in Fresh Start Shop. The main aim is to reduce waste, recycle, reuse and divert items away from landfill. This role is based in Fresh Start warehouse.
The aim of Fresh Start Shop in the first instance is to provide a much needed and valuable service to the local community and offer volunteering opportunities to local people, our service users and the wider community.
This role includes sorting and pricing donations and requires some creativity in displaying items to appeal to customers. Experience of working in retail or in other charity shops is an advantage.
