The GWRP aims to provide a wood recycling service that diverts waste wood from landfill and reduces our impact on the enviroment .

Through this activity we aim to create quality volunteer and training opportunities that advance citizenship and help people move in to employment.


Current opportunities

Glasgow Wood is a Social Enterprise and Charity established in 2007. We are committed to reducing the amount of wood needlessly going to landfill by finding creative and socially inclusive ways to reuse this valuable natural resource. Volunteers are at the heart of GW, playing an active and valuable role in all aspects of the enterprise. Volunteers do not need to have previous experience, just a willingness and desire to help and get involved. We are looking for enthusiastic retail volunteers to: Assist customers and provide a friendly welcoming service Complete order forms with customers Assist customers who are in to pick up completed orders Ensure stock levels are sufficient General housekeeping of retail space Adhering to all Health and Safety procedures at all times Relevant training will be given to retail volunteers to ensure that they are confident and prepared before they start dealing with customers. We have volunteering opportunities Monday - Thursday 9.00am - 4.00pm, Friday 9.00am - 3.00pm and Saturday 10.00am - 4.00pm. These hours can be flexible to suit the volunteers' needs. We are looking for enthusiastic warehouse/yard volunteers to: - Get orders looked out for delivery and loaded into the van - Empty the van when wood waste collections are brought back to the yard - Move stock within the warehouse - Sort and de-nail reclaimed timber - Ensure stock levels on the shop floor are maintained - Keep the warehouse tidy Adhering to all Health and Safety procedures at all times Relevant training will be given to volunteers to ensure that they are confident and prepared before they start in this role as the use of sack trolleys and pallet trucks is an everyday task. This role can be quite physically demanding. We have volunteering opportunities Monday - Thursday 9.00am - 4.00pm, Friday 9.00am - 3.00pm. These hours can be flexible to suit the volunteers needs. This is a great opportunity to gain some experience in a warehouse/yard role and work as part of a friendly welcoming team. We will provide all necessary training to ensure that you are equipped with all the tools and knowledge to carry out your role and you will always be working with a staff member. Travel and lunch expenses are provided. No previous experience needed as all training will be provided
