Current opportunities

Trustees provide advice and assistance to help this important service to help young carers grow and develop. The Board takes the final responsibility for the direction of the organisation and require a variety of skills and expertise to ensure the success of the organisation. Fife Young Carers is an active local charity working with young carers between the age of 8 and 25 across the Fife area. The Board would like to attract people who can offer their time and skills to join the Board as trustees. The role will provide advice and assistance in the important service of providing support to young carers. The Board are seeking individuals with a wide variety of skills and expertise to join them in delivering this service.

Fife Young Carers are looking for volunteer befrienders to give young and young adult carers a chance to experience and access opportunities/activities within their community, Young Carers are children and young people who in some war look after or support a family member who has an illness, disability, mental illness, or substance dependency. Having a caring role has the potential to affect every aspect of a young person's life - emotionally, mentally, physically, and socially. Many young carers report social isolation and lack of confidence as a major effect of their caring role. Fife Young Carers would like o provide more respite breaks on a regular basis to young carers, improving outcomes through regular contact with a volunteer befriender, attending opportunities/activities in their own communities on a regular basis. To this end, they are looking to recruit a bank of volunteers who can support and encourage young people to access local activities, enabling them to live a life outwith their caring role and reduce the impact on their wellbeing.
