Fife Young Carers (SCIO) is a local charity committed to improving the support and information provided to young carers in Fife. We aim to provide support for children and young people aged 8-25 years who care for family members who have one of the following: Long Term illness; Mental ill health; Physical disability; Learning disability; Drug or Alcohol misuse. We provide person-centred support through group sessions, one-to-one sessions, advocacy, school support, young adult carer transition support and befriending. We provide opportunities for young carers to have a break from their caring role. Fife Young Carers also raises awareness of young carers and their support needs.

Current opportunity

Fife Young Carers is a growing organisation that works with young and young adult carers throughout Fife. They have just received a Fife Civic Recognition Award which recognised the incredible work they did to support young carers in Fife during lockdown and beyond. The Board would like to attract people who can offer their time and skills to join them as trustees. The role will provide advice and assistance in the important service of providing support to young carers. They are seeking individuals with a wide variety of skills and expertise, these include but are not limited to anyone with the following skills: -Communications -Fundraising capabilities -Social media -Treasurer The Board meets approx every 6 weeks for 2-3 hours as a full Board, then flexibly, as required. At present they meet virtually but hope to return to face to face meetings soon.
