With funding from the Big Lottery, Clued Up was asked to support young people aged 12 – 18 living in Auchmuty, Glenrothes to engage in the Our Place process, build on their capacity to contribute to their community and help them be involved in creating a better place to live by developing youth facilities and a programme of learning activities based on what they need and want. This is where the Youth Auchmuty Project (YAP) was born.
YAP run activities on a Friday and Wednesday and they are seeking board members to help set up the Steering Group, ensuring the project is self-sustaining as well as continuing to provide support, security and opportunities for young people within Auchmuty. Using a youth-led approach, young people’s opinions are valued giving them a sense of empowerment and increasing their ability to influence.
This creates an exciting opportunity for volunteers to become involved in YAP in its new form. Volunteering as a board member will allow you to assist within a youth work and community development setting, utilising skills such as leadership, communication, networking and fundraising whilst sharing local knowledge.
