Greener Kirkcaldy

Charity registered in Scotland SC041412

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity. We work on a local scale to benefit the community and the environment - we believe that everyone gains from being green.

We give advice and support to help you reduce your fuel bills, grow or cook with seasonal local food and reduce waste. We also hold fun events, run courses and workshops, and we work with community groups and schools. Our Advice Centre and Eco Shop is at 254a High Street (at the foot of Oswald's Wynd), Kirkcaldy.

Current opportunities

As part of Greener Kirkcaldy’s Communities Connected Project, they are looking for volunteer walk leaders. Their walks inspire people to reduce their carbon emissions by driving less and walking more, and are easy and sociable. Walk leaders lead and support short walks in the Kirkcaldy area to encourage people to come together and keep active. A small amount of preparation is sometimes required for the walk, alongside the Sessional Walk Leader. If you can give around two hours per month, enjoy walking, and would like to help people to explore the Kirkcaldy area, this could be the role for you.

Greener Kirkcaldy is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help them tell the world about what they do. Media Volunteers share information about their events and projects or anything else that is relevant to what they do at Greener Kirkcaldy. This can include their themes of climate action, community, food and growing, energy and travel. As a Media Volunteer, you can help them spread their message through any form of media that interests you and training can be given in all areas so you don't need any experience, just the enthusiasm to get involved. You could write blogs or social media posts for them, take photos or even create videos or podcasts for Greener Kirkcaldy. If designing is more your thing, you could create infographics or other graphics they can use on social media and their website. They also welcome volunteers with technical skills who could help to improve their website.
