Fife Childrens Panel

Children's Hearings Scotland (CHS) is part of Scotland's unique Children's Hearing System which exists to ensure the safety and wellbeing of infants, children and young people in Scotland. We recruit, train and support volunteer Panel Members for Scotland's Children's Panel. Children’s Hearing Scotland’s vision is of a Children’s Hearings System where everyone works together, making sure that all children and young people are cared for and protected, and their views are heard, respected and valued. Children’s Hearing Scotland’s mission is to improve outcomes and experiences for children and young people in Scotland who may be at risk. We will do this by supporting the Children’s Panel, working with partners and using our influence to drive improvements across the Children’s Hearings System.

Current opportunity

CHS are recruiting for volunteers across Scotland to help support Scotlands most vulnerable infants, children and young people. We are looking for a diverse range of enthusiastic people aged 18 and over who can show empathy, compassion, trust and who have great listening skills. Panel Members are volunteers from local communities who take part in children’s hearings. Their role is to listen and make legal decisions with and for infants, children and young people who have been referred to the Children’s Panel. Panel Members ensure that the young person is at the heart of every decision made – because every decision, no matter how big or small, has an impact on the life of the child or young person in the hearing. CHS offer a certificated training programme with a highly experienced team to support your development, who will help you along your journey in becoming a panel member. More details: To find out more about the role come along to our virtual information evening on Thursday 21st September 2023, 7pm.
