Be a Fundraising Support Volunteer This is an exciting opportunity for you to get involved by supporting our fundraising team. We support and arrange a large number of fundraising activities, events and collections across the country. We know everyone is different and will try to tailor the volunteering opportunity to suit you, your time and your skills. Typical tasks may include: > Organising collections on behalf of the Red Cross > Supporting with Red Cross week fundraising activity > Arranging your own fundraising activities or events with other volunteers and supporters > Generating interest in your community in what we do and how they can help > Actively supporting or organising support and participation at events, walks, marathons and collections What we offer: > A role to suit your skills and interests to raise funds for our work in the UK and abroad > Meet new people and be part of a dynamic and inclusive team > The knowledge that you are making a difference to people’s lives > Real appreciation and effort to utilise your existing skills in > Learning opportunities so you can represent the Red Cross with confidence > Ability to build on existing or gain skills in organising, liaising and presenting to others >

British Red Cross charity shops sell second-hand designer and vintage clothes, plus gifts, books, furniture and more, with all profits going towards the organisation's work both overseas and in the UK. Volunteers are needed to assist with various retail duties, including: - cashiering - greeting and helping customers - sorting new donations - displaying merchandise - general tidying and cleaning of the shop - getting the items ready for re-sale e.g. ironing, pricing The shop is open Monday to Saturday. You can choose to volunteer on a regular, weekly basis, or add your name to the list for short-term/emergency cover.The volunteer will continually deal with members of the public. Therefore gaining experience in dealing with people and handling money while helping to raise funds for this worthwhile cause.
