We support, develop and represent community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and volunteering. We have around 35 staff members covering these activities across Fife, operating from our offices in Glenrothes, Cupar, Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. We provide a wide range of support to third sector organisations and have expertise in a wide range of skills and topics including governance, funding, legislation, policy, volunteering, managing people, planning and problem solving.

We receive core funding from the Scottish Government and Fife Council to provide four key functions:

  • support, develop and represent the third sector.
  • support, develop and represent social enterprises.
  • support, develop and represent volunteering.
  • support and promote third sector engagement with the Community Planning Partnership.

Current opportunities

Kingdom Companions is a befriending service for vulnerable, perhaps lonely or socially isolated adults who need support to achieve a goal for themselves. This might be getting back into the community, travelling independently, or becoming involved in volunteering themselves. Volunteers are asked to provide friendly, relaxed, practical, and encouraging support to the adult on a one-to-one, regular basis for up to 16 weeks. It could be within the adult's own home or out in the community. There are roles all over Fife for community befrienders who have a couple of hours a week/fortnight to help someone with this. Could this be you? Befriending can be a terrific way to build confidence and skills for jobs such as social care or customer service, as well as helping you to get out, feel good about helping others and even go to new places. Your travel and other out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. FVA aim to match you with someone who lives in your local area. You will get detailed training, as well as ongoing support. Don't drag your feet! Join our fantastic team of committed volunteers who come from all 'walks' of life and volunteer for lots of different reasons. You will be helping some of the thousands of Fifers who struggle to cut and file their own toenails for numerous reasons and need some simple assistance with this as well as applying cream to their feet and ankles afterwards. No experience is necessary, all the training and support you will need is provided. Our sessions are friendly and informal and normally take place in several locations across Fife. If you can you commit three hours or more at least twice a month, we will train and support you all the way. Quote from our website: I enjoy helping people and this has given me that opportunity, I have made lots of friends on my journey and I hope I have made a difference to many people.
