Link Up Whitfield (DVVA)

Link Up is a community project in Whitfield that supports people in the local community to set up projects and activities. Link Up looks at using the strengths and skills of local people to set up and get involved in activities they want to do.

Current opportunities

Local Community Project Link Up Whitfield (DVVA) would like to take on a Dance Leader for their UneekLinx Dance Group, The Dance Group is a group of young people from the local area with a passion for dance, This will involve designing & delivering dance sessions, supporting group members of a variety of abilities, creating an inclusive and friendly environment, encouraging the group to dance and create routines together, allow the young people to take the lead where appropriate, help set up and clear away equipment and promote the dance group in the school/community. You will be aware of our child protection guidelines and report any concerns where relevant, and, explain and promote the dance group ground rules and report where these are not being followed..

Link Up Whitfield’s Cinema Club is on every second Friday afternoon at 1pm, but you would need to be available from 11 30am to 4pm. The volunteer will help set up the chairs for the cinema club, preparing the teas and coffees and also being available to help the projectionist move the equipment into place (projector and other equipment). Also to help to record the number of people attending, help new participants to complete their membership forms and other small admin tasks that may arise.

Lunch Club assistants are needed to help with the delivery of Link Up Lunch Club on a Wednesday lunch time. Volunteers are needed who can help with baking cakes on a Tuesday afternoon in the Lunch Club kitchen. Volunteers are also needed to help at Lunch Club on a Wednesday, duties may include preparing food, setting up tables, providing service, clearing dishes, cash handling, serving food, cleaning after service.

Volunteers needed to help at the Photography Group. This is a group of all ages and abilities who meet every week to share and learn new skills such as taking photos, editing photos, using laptops, using software such as photoshop etc. We are looking for volunteers to help with the running of the club so duties would include: taking the register, taking feedback from participants, help to set up before the class and tidy up after the class, helping the tutor with the running of the class (eg: providing help to those that need it) and generally help to keep things in order. If you are also interested there may be an opportunity to lead a class. Link Up Whitfield’s Photography Group is on every Monday evening from 6pm-8pm during term time. You would need to be available from 5:30pm until approximately 8:30pm. It is held at Community Services Complex, 101 Whitfield Drive.
