Citizens Advice Bureaux are local, independent charities that provide free and confidential advice and information whoever you are and whatever your problem. There is a CAB in almost every community in Scotland, across almost 300 locations, helping more that 260,000 people each year.
Current opportunities
As A Volunteer General Adviser you will conduct appointments with clients and provide them with advice and options to their enquiry. This will be done after researching information on client's various queries with the use CAS databases and other online information services so good IT skills are essential. General Adviser's will also be expected to upkeep client and case records to required standard. Full training and ongoing support will be given to general advice volunteers

As A Volunteer General Adviser you will support members of the local community with a variety of enquires, such as:
• Benefits
• Employment
• Consumer
• Relationships
• Housing
• Crisis Supports
You will help to empower clients to understand their rights and what options they have available to make informed decisions.
Each day as a generalist adviser will come with new and interesting learning opportunities.
Generalist advisers provide support to clients in the local community by telephone, face to face appointments and email advice.
This will be done after researching information on client's various queries with the use CAS databases and other online information services so good IT skills are essential.
General Adviser's will also be expected to upkeep client and case records to required standard.
Full training and ongoing support will be given to General Advice volunteers
What might you be doing?
• Greeting clients and visitors to the bureau who looking for support with a Foodbank referral
• Calling clients to complete Foodbank Referrals
• Completing Foodbank Vouchers and associated records
• Using CAB It systems to maintain accurate records
• Supporting Foodbank Adviser with administration tasks

You will be part the CAB volunteering team supporting your local bureau to provide clients with the information that they need.
What might you be doing?
• Working with the bureau manager and colleagues to produce content for Facebook, Twitter, blogs and/or other social media platforms
• Engaging with others on social media, sharing external content where appropriate monitoring and any inappropriate materials.
• Ensuring the CAB policy on social media is followed at all times
• Monitoring performance of social media posts and producing reports as required.
