To enhance the economic, social and environmental sustainability of Rosewell through the creation of opportunities for the local community.

The Company has been formed to benefit the community who live or work in Rosewell as defined by the EH24 postcode or within 1 Kilometre of its boundary. (the Company), with the Purposes listed in the sub-clauses hereto to be exercised following the principles of sustainable development (where sustainable development means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs), namely:
4.1 To manage community land and associated assets for the benefit of the Community and the public in general. 4.2 To provide, or assist in providing recreational facilities, and/or organising recreational activities, which will be available to members of the Community and public at large with the object of improving the conditions of life of the Community.
4.3 To advance community development, including urban or rural regeneration within the Community.
4.4 To advance the education of the Community about its environment, culture, heritage and/or history.
4.5 To advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, sustainable development and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the Community and/or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the Community;


Current opportunities

All volunteers will work in a team with the Volunteer Coordinator to plan and deliver the craft sessions. Materials etc will be provided however you may be asked to purchase some of the materials yourself – you will be reimbursed for this upon presenting a valid receipt. You will be given the opportunity to lead on sessions if you are confident in this. Working with members of the community, you will be an approachable, lively and helpful volunteer who is ready to support the children, engage with the family and provide a fun atmosphere were children can take part in activities or enjoy free play. Due to the Coronavirus there will be social distancing measures in place, as well as hygiene measures in line with public health advice, to ensure volunteers and group users are safe. These measures will have to be followed by volunteers as well as other measures detailed within our Covid 19 policy and in line with risks assessments also carried out. For any volunteer who is not sure of these measures or has any questions, then please get in touch. Anyone who would be considered at high risk if they contracted virus, unfortunately you will not be able to volunteer with us at present, however we would still welcome an application form from you in order that we have your details of file and can contact you at a later stage

The supervising Classroom Teacher will provide roles and jobs for you to do. You may find yourself working with groups of children, helping with activities in all aspects of the Curriculum for Excellence, being given paperwork tasks or producing classroom displays to show the work completed by the children. You will help plan and deliver LEGO based activities for children aged 5 to 11 years. No two sessions will be the same as we help our engineers of the future. All volunteers will work in a team with the Community Activities Leader to plan and deliver the sessions. Materials etc will be provided however you may be asked to purchase some of the materials yourself – you will be reimbursed for this upon presenting a valid receipt. You will be given the opportunity to lead on sessions if you are confident in this. Working with children you will be an approachable, lively and helpful volunteer who is ready to support the children and provide a fun atmosphere where children can take part in activities safely.

Help us keep Rosewell looking beautiful by helping to maintain our community planters and green spaces. Opportunities also available in our sensory garden at The Steading. All volunteers will work in a team lead by our Lead volunteer and supported by our Community Activities Leader to plan monthly activities around the village such as weeding, pruning, and planting. Materials etc will be provided however you may be asked to purchase some of the materials yourself – you will be reimbursed for this upon presenting a valid receipt. Some tasks will require lone working and others will be in a group setting depending on current Government Guidelines.
