Current opportunity

You have the unique opportunity to present one of Scotland’s most historic castles to visitors and tell the story of the Maitland family. Help bring history to life! Initially volunteer Room Stewards are only required to provide a presence in the castle, to warmly welcome guests, and to answer visitors’ questions and to ensure that the security of artefacts are not compromised. As Room Stewards gain in knowledge they will be able to answer questions more fully and offer guided tours to individuals and small groups.
