Current opportunities

Volunteer Centre Borders is currently seeking new trustees to strengthen our board and support the work of this passionate charity as the next few years will bring enormous challenges. VCB is a small but growing charity with ambitious plans for future expansion. It is a registered charity operated as a company limited by guarantee. To help us to grow we need experienced members of the public to join our Board. We are specifically seeking trustees with expertise in the either charity finance, IT, governance or fundraising. The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees who meet 6 times a year to provide strategic direction, oversight of the work of the charity and to give support to the staff team. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in an engaging, decision making role in a charity that champions volunteering in the Scottish Borders.

With the support of Volunteer Centre Borders you could plan projects, support young people in having a voice in the Third Sector, help local charities, promote the Saltire Awards scheme...with benefits to get training and various awards along the way! This is open to anyone from 13 -18 years of age. This group will help to change the way the Third Sector see young volunteers. You will meet as a group once a month to plan projects, look at gaps in volunteering, and share your knowledge with the wider Borders. You will also be the leading link between young people and the schools/colleges in helping to focus volunteering as a priority for young people in achieving active involvement in social change. You will decide as a team how to highlight important issues around young people and volunteering in the Scottish Borders and how to involve your peers in celebrating the positive contributions young people make in the Third Sector in the Scottish Borders. We will be looking at all members receiving awards such as Youth Achievement Award and Dynamic Youth Award. Young people involved will also be invited to take part in community meetings to have their say. We would like involvement from every area in the Scottish Borders (Peebles, Hawick, Galashiels, Earlston, Lauder, Duns, Kelso, Jedburgh and Eyemouth) so that we can hear the voice of all young people across the region.
