Support people from ethnic, religious and cultural minorities. To provide education and training for organisations about minority issues. To share information about activities and events across the region. To provide services including translation and interpretation. To establish a Multicultural Centre as a place to meet and celebrate the special events of our faith and communities.


Current opportunities

We are looking for a volunteer who is good at marketing and communication to help promote out international events. Celebrations include Chinese and Lunar New Year, International Women's Day, Refugee Week, Black History Month and Interfaith Week. We also run weekly programmed activities.

To work within the DGMA shop on Dumfries High Street (formerly Debenhams). To provide customer service; sorting, displaying and pricing goods; cashier duties at the till point.

To support ESOL (English to speakers of other languages) classes. To support learning in small groups both conversational and beginners English.

To work within the DGMA shop on Dumfries High Street accompanying families and individuals (who are currently guests of Scotland) in need of clothing and toiletries. The role will include recording items gifted to those in need to help with stock control.
