Dundee Community Transport runs a community car scheme where volunteer drivers use their own car to give lifts to people over 65 so that they can access social, recreational and medical appointments.
Dundee Community Transport SCIO (DCT) is committed to delivering affordable and accessible transport for Dundee. Currently, our main activity is the delivery of a volunteer driver service, Community Cars, which ensures Dundee’s older communities can remain active. This is an opportunity to play a part in helping Dundee’s older people enjoy independence and a good quality of life.
The successful candidates will be required to clearly demonstrate: A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort; ability to think creatively; ability to work effectively as a member of a team; good communication and interpersonal skills; good, independent judgement; impartiality, fairness and confidentiality; leadership skills; strategic vision; understanding and acceptance of responsibilities; willingness to speak one’s mind.
If you would like the chance to help shape and develop an award winning charity – please get in touch.
As the population of the 65+ community in Dundee increases so do the number of elderly people who are isolated and lonely. Help us to keep older people independent, safe and well in their own homes by being a volunteer driver, enabling older people to get to appointments, do their own shopping or enjoy meeting up with friends and family.
You will hold a full drivers licence and if you have access to a suitable and reliable car you must hold comprehensive insurance. You will be happy to collect our customers from their own home and drive them to their desired location. Where appropriate you may have to wait for a period of time before taking the passenger home.
Your responsibilities will include cash handling, light paperwork and you will be required to become a member of the PVG scheme. All costs associated with your role as a volunteer will be met by DCT.
DCT are keen to recruit drivers from anywhere but those in DD4 and DD5 post code areas are particularly welcome as that is where many users stay.
Dundee Community Transport has been dedicated to improving community transport services in Dundee since 2005. After successfully providing a community minibus service, DCT now delivers a door to door community transport service called Community Cars.
Community Cars is proving to be a necessary transport provision for the over 65 community in Dundee and we are looking to invite more people to join our management committee and help shape the development of this very exciting project. We are looking for people with a range of skills including; marketing, fundraising, and business development, as well as people looking to build upon current skills that people think could benefit DCT.
