Current opportunities

Caledonia Housing Association’s Volunteer Project supports older people living in retirement housing schemes across the city. We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers who enjoy socialising in a one-to-one setting, either in person, or over the phone. This role will involve providing companionship for an older person who may be isolated or lonely. This could be visiting and having a cup of tea and a chat, sharing interests and stories, or even going out for a cuppa or a walk together! This role is particularly vital as we come out of lockdown and the Covid-19 pandemic. Many older people are feeling more isolated than ever, and your companionship could make a real difference to their wellbeing. All of our current Befrienders say how much they enjoy the role and how much they themselves get out of the relationship. No experience is necessary, would suit someone who enjoys supporting older people and can give a few hours of their time per week or fortnight. We provide Befriender Induction Training for all candidates – All befriender volunteers are required to undergo a PVG check prior to starting.

We are looking for volunteers who are competent in their IT skills to support some of our Retirement Housing tenants in using their digital devices. You do not need to be an expert in using devices, we just ask that you are confident in the basic skills necessary to use devices such as laptops, an iPad or chromebooks. This volunteering can be done in person, via telephone/video call, on a one-off basis, or as part of a group. IT Support Volunteers help our elderly tenants to: - set up an email address - show them how to use video calling - show them how to shop online - teach them basic online safety skills We are looking for volunteers in Dundee, Angus (Montrose, Monifieth, Birkhill), Perth and Fife.

Caledonia Housing Association’s Volunteer Project supports older people living in retirement housing schemes across Dundee, Angus, Fife and Perth. We are looking for volunteers to provide gentle seated exercise classes to our tenants. These are small classes, and all within Covid safety regulations. The Seated Exercise Classes were a huge part of the tenant's lives, until they had to come to an end during the pandemic. We are looking for friendly and patient volunteers who would maintain the groups on a regular basis and help get our tenant's lives back to some normality! No experience is necessary, as all training and ongoing support will be provided. If you would enjoy supporting older people and like being active, then why not contact us to find out more!

Are you interested in helping our tenants bring their communal gardens back to life? Our Retirement Schemes across Dundee, Perth, Angus and Fife are looking for experienced gardeners (or a keen amateur) to help restore these wonderful spaces back into shape. Since the beginning of the pandemic, our tenants have not been able to care for their once-loved outdoor spaces, and they are in need of a friendly and patient volunteer to help out. So if you have green fingers, and want to help they elderly tenants in our Retirement schemes to be able to enjoy their green spaces again, get in touch! Gardening tools will be provided, times and commitment can be decided between the volunteer and coordinator prior to starting.
