Roxburgh House provides palliative care for those with a life limiting illness.
Current opportunities
The Volunteer Hairdresser will provide a hairdressing service for in-patients in Roxburghe House and Day Care patients in the Macmillan unit who have been assessed as someone who would require and are appropriate for this service by the Multi Disciplinary Team/ Complementary Therapy Co-ordinator
Core Duties include:
· To provide a one-to-one service to patients.
· To liaise with nursing staff about referrals.
· To complete documentation as required.
· Volunteer must be qualified Hairdresser or under supervision of a qualified hairdresser
· To wear an ID badge at all times while on duty.
· Respecting confidentiality, maintaining the persons dignity and comply with the NHS Tayside Confidentiality Policies.
· To comply with NHS Tayside volunteering policies and guidelines.
· To be aware of and comply with NHS Tayside policies relevant to the role eg Health & Safety, Infection Prevention Control, Social Media etc.
· To feed back any concerns regarding the wellbeing of patients to nursing staff in the first instance.
· To attend mandatory training as required.
These are the primary core duties of a Volunteer Hairdresser; however certain activities can be changed or amended to suit requirements, under the supervision of the Multi Disciplinary Team.
To support hospital staff to enhance patient experience.
Core Duties include:
· To liaise with Activity Support Worker to plan the day’s activities.
· To assist with practical preparation/setting up and clearing away of any group materials.
· To take part in Arts & Crafts/Board Games or other focused activities.
· To support, encourage and enable group participants to engage with and take part in group activities.
· To listen to and talk with patients.
· To provide companionship to patients who may have few visitors.
· One to one contact with patients. Some periods of sole responsibility.
· To feed back any concerns regarding the wellbeing of patients to nursing staff in the first instance.
· To wear ID badge at all times while on duty.
· Respecting confidentiality, maintaining the persons dignity and comply with the NHS Tayside Confidentiality Policies.
· To comply with NHS Tayside volunteering policies and guidelines.
· To be aware of and comply with NHS Tayside policies relevant to the role eg Health & Safety, Infection Prevention Control, Social Media etc.

These are the primary core duties of an Activity Assistant Volunteer, however certain activities can be changed or amended to suit requirements, under the supervision of the Senior Charge Nurse, Senior Ward Member or Activity Support Worker.
To support hospital staff to enhance patient experience within a palliative care setting.
Core Duties include:
· To provide a series of one-to-one sessions to patients.
· To provide hand massage.
· Nails can be filed but not cut, with nail painting offered if required.
· To offer taster sessions as needed.
· To liaise with nursing staff about referrals.
· To wear an ID badge at all times while on duty.
· Respecting confidentiality, maintaining the persons dignity and comply with the NHS Tayside Confidentiality Policies.
· To comply with NHS Tayside volunteering policies and guidelines.
· To be aware of and comply with NHS Tayside policies relevant to the role eg Health & Safety, Infection Prevention Control, Social Media etc.

These are the primary core duties of a Hand & Nail Therapy Volunteer; however certain activities can be changed or amended to suit requirements, under the supervision of the Complementary Therapy Co-ordinator or Voluntary Services Team.
To support staff to enhance patient and visitor experience by providing a tearoom service at Kingsway Care Centre
Core Duties Include:
· Providing refreshments for patients and visitors attending the Centre.
· Ensuring the tearoom is left tidy with all flasks, crockery, cutlery and supplies cleared away at the end of the day.
· Liaising with the Clinical Nurse Manager regarding the purchase of additional supplies.
· Ensuring any donations received are passed on to the Clinical Nurse Manager to record.
· To wear an ID badge at all times while on duty.

· To comply with NHS Tayside volunteering policies and guidelines.

These are the primary core duties of a Tearoom Hospitality Volunteer; however certain activities can be changed or amended to suit ward requirements, under the supervision of the senior member of staff.
