Home-Start Dundee is a local charity supporting families with at least one child under the age of 5, who are struggling with the challenges of everyday life. We support families from all backgrounds who are going through challenging times. We support parents who are experiencing isolation, poor mental or physical health, bereavement and parenting difficulties.


Current opportunities

Make a difference to a local family. Home-Start volunteers work alongside families to give compassionate and confidential support, tailored to each family’s needs. Group volunteers offer practical and emotional support within a group setting, assist the co-ordinator in setting up the creche, assist children in various activities, assist with snacks in the group and are supported by a Co-ordinator.

Home-Start volunteers work alongside families to give compassionate and confidential support, tailored to each family’s needs. Trustees are responsible for providing leadership and direction for the scheme within the ethos and values of Home-Start and ensuring that the scheme has a clear mission, vision and strategic direction and is focussed on achieving these. Also responsible for the effective performance of the scheme, ensuring the scheme complies with all legal and regulatory requirements, including the Home- Start Standards and Methods of Practice and the agreement and quality standards- undertaking an ambassadorial role for Home-Start. The board meets up every 6-8 weeks and trustee volunteers are asked to commit approximately 10 hours a month.

Our volunteers need to have parenting experience and are often parents themselves. Home-visiting volunteers offer practical and emotional support and encourage parents’ strengths and emotional wellbeing. They support families in the home and in the community for one day a week for 2 hours.
