Our clients at the ‘Fiveways’ centre experience an inclusive, outcome focused social setting which allows them to live life to the fullest. The centre exists to support the client’s needs and as a volunteer you have a great opportunity to contribute to the warmth, laughter and special moments.
You will be involved in activities such as carpet bowls, arts & crafts, dominos, board games, jig saws, music and dancing, serving meals, tidying of the hall and assisting clients to and from transport. As a valued member of our team our client’s happiness will be a direct result of your contribution at the centre.
We will support you through training and supervision where you will be able to reflect and develop your skills. Overall you have the opportunity within our team to experience a real sense of self-worth, knowing you have had a positive impact on the day to day lives of our clients.
DAC provide a day centre service for older people at the Fiveways centre and, consequently, are keen to attract volunteers to our existing board of 6, who may have knowledge and expertise in - amongst other skills, health and social care, buildings maintenance, and finance administration.
The day centre is now registered as a Support Service with the Care Inspectorate. In-order to sustain this vital service and prevent social isolation for the elderly, potential board members will be responsible for; collaborative working, informed decision making, the implementation of policy and robust governance which will ultimately contribute to the continued development of a well-regarded charity in the city of Dundee.
Board members do not readily have to commit to attending the ‘Fiveways’ centre on a routine basis, but they are expected, where possible, to attend monthly board meetings, usually the first Monday of each month between 1300 - 1530.
