Current opportunities

Would you give up a small amount of your time to make a huge difference to someone’s life? Cosgrove Care is an established, local charity providing high quality services to children and adults with learning disabilities. We are seeking a female volunteer befriender, preferably a car driver, for a mature woman that we support. If you enjoy television soaps and drama series, going for a coffee and a chat, getting out and about, possibly visiting the odd museum then we would like to hear from you. The woman we support is easy going, fun to be with and enjoys a good chat and a laugh. She is seeking a befriender with a kind, gentle manner. Please get in touch with us if you are sensitive to the needs of others, are patient and understanding and have good listening skills. Two references and a Disclosure PVG check will be carried out. If you would like to find out more then please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Lauren Jarvis Tel 0141 620 2500 ljarvis@cosgrovecare.org.uk

We are looking for volunteers to assist with our weekly adult services art classes where the emphasis is on encouraging creativity and developing artistic skills in a fun, supportive environment. This volunteering role will suit someone who is calm, friendly and helpful. It is also a good opportunity for someone interested in gaining experience of supporting adults with a range of learning disabilities, to get the most out of their time in a creative setting

Female Befriender wanted for a young woman we support, to meet up fortnightly. Monday, Thursday or Saturday early evening for a coffee and a chat, bit of shopping or walking. A car driver would be great, but not essential, as we are conveniently located for public transport. Befrienders are matched with the aim of sharing common interests and activities. We offer an induction, ongoing support and training to develop valuable skills and experience. Time commitment: You must be prepared to commit to regular meeting times that are convenient to you and the person you are befriending preferably on a fortnightly basis for a minimum period of 6 months. There will be a 3 month trial period to ensure both parties are happy with the match. Volunteer out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. Please get in touch if you are friendly, patient and caring. Two references and a Disclosure PVG check will be carried out by us and at no cost to yourself. If you would like to find out more, please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Lauren Jarvis.
