Deaf Links provides a wide range of services, activities and learning opportunities for Deaf, hard of hearing and sensory impaired people.

An advocate provides a voice for those who may feel they are being ignored, excluded or treated unfairly. They provide a confidential service, representing the views and choices of the people they work with, empowering them to represent their own interests, providing information not advice, and allowing the person to be in control of their own life. Volunteer advocates promote the person's independence and increase their confidence.

Did you know over 1million people in Scotland are affected by sensory loss? We need you help! We are looking for people aged 18+ to become volunteer Citizen Advocates, to help people in your community living with a sensory loss. Can you dedicate time & make a long term commitment to another person? There is no specific qualifications necessary, life experience and a desire to making a difference in the lives of people living with sensory loss is all that is required. All applicants will be trained and PVG checked prior to being paired with a advocacy partner. As an advocate you will: • Help your Advocacy Partner to make informed choices • Help your Advocacy Partner to communicate their views • Support your Partner in meeting new people and gain access into their community • Help your Partner access support to which they are entitled • Befriend and share in social activities

We have a position available, your level of involvement is arranged to suit your availability. You should have the use of your own car and hold a full driving licence for 3 years. Ability to use sign language (BSL) is desirable but not essential. Volunteers must be fit, be able to carry loads and climb stairs without difficulties. The role requires, collecting donated stock and delivering stock to the charity store

Deaf Links is a Deaf Led Charity based in the Tayside Deaf Hub and we are looking for people to volunteer in our charity shop in the Wellgate Shopping Centre. You can find out more about us at We are looking for motivated and friendly people to help out in all aspects within the store. The role will involve sorting stock, hanging clothes, pricing items and serving customers and any other work associated within the store. Training for this will be provided.
