Angus Carers Centres vision is that all carers in Angus will receive appropriate information and support to enable them to feel valued and confident in their caring situation and to develop their own potential. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for all carers in Angus. We are currently looking for volunteers to help us cover our reception desk within the centre at 8 Grant Road, Arbroath,DD11 1JN. This role would suit anyone wishing to develop their communication skills and build confidence in a people facing role. Some experience is beneficial, but training and guidance will be provided by our admin staff here in the centre. At the moment we would welcome enquiries from individuals who can possibly volunteer with us one hour per week on a Thursday from 4-5pm and also from individuals who would be able to help out at holiday times. An initial informal chat will be arranged along with a visit to learn more about our organisation. This role requires a PVG ( There is no cost to the Volunteer for a PVG check) Travel expenses are paid for this role.

Volunteers will be involved in supporting these activities and we are looking for volunteers that are quite active and have some understanding of the needs of children with a disability. Volunteers will support children to engage with activities and will require patience and motivation with an ability to engage with a range of age groups and abilities. Our popular support groups take place throughout Angus and we are looking for volunteers to support the groups. These have been taking place via zoom but with restrictions lifting the groups are beginning to return to face-to-face meetings. The groups are led by a Carer Support Worker and the role of the volunteer will be to come along and help out. The groups are informative and give carers a break from their caring role. This is a new opportunity and will provide the volunteer with a better understanding of the challenges that carers face. Training and support will be given and the time commitment is a few hours each month. Potential volunteers will be required to undertake a volunteer interview on zoom. Volunteers will also be required to undertake membership of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Scheme. Below are the essential and desirable criteria for this role.
