Charlie House

Charity registered in Scotland SC042643

Charlie House was established to help make life better for babies, children and young people who have life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, and to support their parents, brothers and sisters, and all those who love them.

We started in 2011 and, through the generosity of others, we have been able to develop and grow our projects to support these wonderful children. With continued support we hope to be there when families need us most.

Current opportunities

*Volunteer with Charlie House and give the gift of time* Thousands of volunteers across the North-east of Scotland make an amazing contribution to the third sector and provide vital hours of support to charities and the families which they support. Our volunteers are an integral and invaluable part of Team Charlie House. Every single hour they contribute makes a difference to the babies, children, young people and families we support. As we develop our range of services to support even more families across the region, we are looking to expand our team of Charlie House volunteers. Some of our volunteers gift an occasional hour or two, some a whole day, and some make a regular commitment every week or month. We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities available for each and every individual, based on their available time. The café is open seven days a week providing sit-in and take-away hot/cold drinks, soup, cakes and sandwiches. Our ReCHarge café volunteers are a key part of the team, helping to give customers a welcoming and positive café experience. Volunteer activities include helping to: -meet and greet customers -keep the café and servery areas clean and tidy -prepare food/drinks -take payments -replenish stock. Volunteers are also trained and encouraged to promote Charlie House events and activities to potential families, volunteers, supporters and members of the public. We are looking for volunteers to help with an exciting event coming up in Union Terrace Gardens – The Big Bounce! Which takes place between the 8th-11th August 2024. This is a great opportunity to be part of a fantastic event in the heart of Aberdeen City centre. A team of 300 volunteers are to be recruited to make The Big Bounce possible across the four-day weekend, a superb opportunity to give back to the local community and help make an event to be attended by thousands of families a massive success. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to bring fun and energy to the team, ensuring that members of the public have a safe and memorable experience. There are an abundance of areas to support during the event, including welcoming visitors, selling wristbands, merchandise and balloons, helping staff to supervise bouncy castles and funfair stalls, as well as steward the event. As official event volunteers, you will receive tickets to be used during the weekend to show our appreciation for your incredible support. Those interested in gifting their time, skills and expertise are invited to get in touch with the Charlie House volunteer team by emailing volunteer@charliehouse.org.uk, with spaces to take part expected to fill up fast. With bouncy castles, funfair stalls, music and much more, it's once again guaranteed to be a leading family event in the Aberdeen summer calendar.
