Citizens Advice Bureau Advisers enable people to make informed choices through the services we provide. We offer confidential and impartial help in areas such as benefits, housing, employment and debt.


Current opportunities

The main duties are: - Deal with incoming/outgoing mail - Input information onto Excel spreadsheets - Maintain records on database - Record income/expenditure - Take telephone messages, pass to staff and advisers as appropriate - Maintain leaflet displays and general tidy appearance of Reception - Any other admin duties as required to assist in the smooth running of the bureau. - Attention to detail in recording information is vital to this post. - Cover Reception duties if necessary. - Greet clients. - Notify Advisers of client waiting

- A trainee adviser goes through the Basic Training Course. - Interview clients - listen to the client and let the client explain the problem. Help the client to clarify the issue by exploring the problem and asking questions. - Giving information - use Advisernet, online services and reference books to find out the correct information. - Give advice - explain the information to the client and the choice that the client has, so he/she can decide what to do. - Give practical help - for example, filling in forms, doing a benefit calculation, speaking or writing to another agency on behalf of a client. - Record cases - make a record of the client's details so that further help can be given if a client returns to the CAB.
