Mearns & Coastal Healthy Living Network

Charity registered in Scotland SC038980

The project aims to implement preventative approaches to ensure that older people have a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle that will ease the demand on services and contribute to the wellbeing of communities.

Current opportunities

The Mearns and Coastal Healthy Living Network is looking for Volunteers for its increasingly popular shopping service for older people. Volunteers either take the older person to the shops or do the shopping for them. This may include visits to the bank, chemist, post office or other local amenities. This is a really important service and helps people live independently in their own homes for longer. People also say how important the social contact with the Volunteer is for them.

During COVID-19, we have adapted the transport service to provide support to help older people attend healthcare appointments, including GP appointments, hospital clinics, chiropody and dental appointments. Volunteers will be given PPE, guidance and ongoing support in this role.
