Care about the environment in your community? Alloa Community Enterprises has been an established and well-loved charity in Clackmannanshire for over 35 years and is committed to protecting the environment by diverting and upcycling pre-loved furniture and bric-a-brac. It also offers other services to the local community including volunteering and training. The charity is now entering a new phase of its development with the launch of a Remakery and Reuse Cafe in the coming year and is seeking new board members to join its small, committed and skilled board. In particular the charity is seeking people with background in retail skills, and young people who may be pursuing a career in environmental protection. The Remakey is a shop where used and refurbished funiture is available for new homes. The Remakery is a project within Alloa Community Enterprises, a social enterprise with the main aim of the advancement of environmental protection/improvement. Alloa Community Enterprises do this by taking donations of preloved furniture, and sorting it for sale or recycling, ultimately diverting it from landfill. What’s involved? Are you handy with a paintbrush or screwdriver, or simply enjoy ‘fixing things’? Would you like to work with us to help your local community? If so, Alloa Community Enterprise's Remakery is looking for someone who would be willing to volunteer to help support our Remakery. Within the role you would be required to undertake general painting and decoration tasks. This can include carrying out any basic carpentry / furniture repair work and installing fixtures and furnishings that have been donated to the Remakery. The volunteer can expect to be assisting in the moving of larger items. The volunteer will take responsibility for their own health and safety. Ideally, the volunteer will have experience of painting, decorating and general repair work, or simply have a passion for DIY and recycling/upcycling. What’s in it for you? This is an exciting opportunity for a volunteer to support Alloa Community Enterprises/Remakery team with our Marketing and Social Media. You may have experience in this area or maybe you are technically minded and would like to learn new skills and increase your employability. We are looking for someone who can help expand on, and help manage our social media and online shops. This would be a great placement opportunity for a student to showcase their experience. What’s involved? Volunteers will work with staff to identify promotional opportunities using popular online social media platforms. Volunteers can expect to be helping encourage recycling of furniture and use of other facilities Promote Information of the services we provide by keep social media platforms up to date with latest developments and growing Alloa Community Enterprise's online following and local presence on social media. Volunteer will be asked to help expand the online stores as well as helping to manage the website What’s in it for you? This role will initially be mainly home based due to current social distancing restrictions.

Our shop relies heavily on the pick-up and distribution of goods. Alloa Community Enterprise's drivers collect donations and deliver purchases of furniture and other items. Volunteers will drive the van carrying out this activity across the Forth Valley Area. Volunteers will also need to be physically capable of lifting and moving items of furniture. Drivers work with a Distribution Assistant so team work is essential when undertaking this role. What’s in it for you? This role will suit someone who is friendly, reliably hardworking and can communicate effectively with staff, other volunteers, and members of the public and engage with people of all ages, races, cultures and abilities. The volunteer has to be confident and a responsible individual, with an enthusiastic personality. The volunteer has to be able to cope with the duties and responsibilities of the role. Has a patient and approachable manner, and can follow instructions and guidelines. Volunteers who possess a good knowledge of the local area and enjoys driving will like this role. Volunteer's licenses must have a full clean driving licence, and has been driving for more than 2 years Alloa Community Enterprises are committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
