Home Strat offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children in Clackmannanshire.
(a)To safe guard, protect and preserve the good health both mental and physical of children and parents of children.
(b) to prevent cruelty or maltreatment of children.
(c) to relieve sickness, poverty and need amongst children and parents of children.
(d) to promote the education of the public in better standards of child care within the area of Clckmannanshire.


Current opportunities

Home-Start Clackmannanshire are a local charity supporting young vulnerable families who are struggling to get through the day due to mental health illness, disability, domestic abuse, and loneliness. Home-Start has been around in Clackmannanshire since 1988 and we’ve supported over 1000 families since then! As a Family Support Volunteer matched with a young family you can expect to be out and about in the community, or helping out at home, going to the Park, setting routines, helping with homework, filling out forms or offering a listening ear to Mum or Dad over a cuppa. You will work alongside a small team staff team consisting of a Manager, 3 Family Support Co-ordinators and a Senior Administrator. You will have access to a Family Support Co-ordinator throughout your volunteering experience who will support and guide you (although the whole team is here for you ) All Volunteers attend an 8-week Volunteer Preparation Course (once a week for 3 hours – day-time or evening) covering topics such as Child Protection, Listening Skills, Working with Families – the course is interactive, informative and fun! No formal skills or experience are necessary to carry out this role. However, a passion for life, empathy towards families and their issues, and a good sense of humour are a definite! All Volunteers attend an 8-week Volunteer Preparation Course (once a week for 3 hours – day-time or evening) covering topics such as Child Protection, Listening Skills, Working with Families – the course is interactive, informative and fun! We will provide an ongoing Training Calendar to engage with other local agencies, to bring Volunteers together and learn new skills. Monthly Supervision Sessions will take place with a Co-ordinator either in the Home-Start Office or in the Volunteers home (whatever is easiest for Volunteer).

We recognise that being a parent, wherever you live and whatever your circumstances isn't always easy. Our aim at Home Start Clackmannanshire is to help families achieve strong foundations for a healthy and happy future. Home-Start Clackmannanshire has recently opened a charity shop on Alloa high-street, selling various donated items, from children's wear, to house hold items, and books. The shop is currently looking for volunteers to assist in the shop, to help with tasks such as: - sorting through donations - replenishing stock on the shop floor - serving customers - operating the till This opportunity is flexible with regards to timings during the opening hours of the shop (10am to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday). To carry out this role we are looking for people who are friendly, approachable, and willing to learn.

Our aim at Home Start Clackmannanshire is to help families achieve strong foundations for a healthy and happy future. Administrative support is needed to assist the Operations Manager in undertaking key tasks including but not limited to those linked with Quality Assurance processes. This role will include: Developing audit paperwork –checklists relating to files Family Case file audits to ensure all information is up-to-date Volunteer file audits to ensure supervision is up-to-date Random sampling of data input to Home Start’s customised database MESH. Checking MESH records against expenses claims Providing support for funding applications by gathering data from MESH. Training on MESH and Home Start processes will be provided by office manager/operations manager. Access to all other training provided by Home Start, including regular meetings with volunteers who under take family support work. Bi-monthly 1-1 support will take place with Operations Manager. This opportunity is flexible with regards to timings however must be within Home Start office hours Mon-Thurs 09:00-17:00, Fri 09:00-15:00 To carry out this role we are looking for someone with strong IT skills, including Word and Excel. You need to be someone who is able to work with deadlines, and engage with a range of people. As you will have access to vulnerable families information and be among them on occasion, you will need to become a member of the PVG scheme. Home Start will support you through this application.

Home-Start offers support, friendship and practical help to families with young children across Clackmannanshire. Home-Start offers a unique service, recruiting and training volunteers, who are parents themselves, to visit families at home who have at least one child under 5 to offer informal, friendly and confidential support. We are looking for enthusiastic new members to join our board of trustees. Lead by the Chairperson, the Trustees play an important and responsible role within the organisation having a range of responsibilities to external bodies such as Funding Agencies, Regulatory Bodies and Service Users. The Board currently meets nine times per year, and attendance would also be expected at the AGM. In particular, we are looking for a Chairperson to join our Board of Trustees to oversee the board functions and meetings. In addition to the role of Chair, we are also looking for other board members with HR, IT, or general organisational skills.
