Current opportunities

Wishaw YMCA is looking for volunteers to staff our new project offices. Duties will include general office admin tasks, dealing with enquiries, assisting in community engagement program delivery planning and conducting public consultation surveys These roles would be coordinating the administration activities of the organisation. As an office support assistant your duties will include general office administration tasks, dealing with enquiries, assisting in community engagement program delivery planning and conducting public consultation surveys. You will develop valuable knowledge and skills for your CV and acquire experience and understanding of how a local charity operates whilst gaining a real sense of achievement in the process. Volunteers would be expected to commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours per fortnight ideally for at least 12 months. Previous administration experience is desirable though not essential however it is very important in this role that you are highly organised, IT literate and enjoy meeting new people. You should enjoy working as part of a team and having fun while sharing your talents and developing new skills. We will offer full training to support you in the role. Wishaw YMCA has embarked on ambitious journey called Project Revive. The goals of the project are to reopen our original premises which is a beautiful historic building at 145 Main St Wishaw which is currently closed to the public. We are working towards funding to transform that facility into a flexible community space that would cater for community groups. Our vision is to restore the building to be operated as a community social enterprise that utilises the space as a wedding venue, concert hall, cinema and conference facility which will support reinvestment in the community as Non-Profit to provide program delivery that are core to YMCA principles. This is a long term capital project where we have already taken important steps towards our goal. Our new project office will enable us to be accessible to the local community and act as a base to support community engagement and to conduct public consultation in relation to the regeneration of our original premises

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and shape our events which we believe will make a difference to lives within our local community. This role is assisting in our local events activities including the planning, promotion and delivery. As an events coordinator you will develop valuable knowledge and skills for your CV and acquire experience and understanding of how a local charity operates whilst gaining a real sense of achievement in the process. Volunteers would be expected to commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours per fortnight for a minimum of 12 months. Previous events experience is desirable though not essential however it is very important in this role that you are confident and outgoing and enjoy meeting new people. You should enjoy working as part of a team and having fun while sharing your talents and developing new skills. We will offer full training to support you in the role. Wishaw YMCA is looking for volunteers to assist with our social media and IT. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills as well as get involved and shape our local events which we believe will make a difference to lives within our local community. We are looking for Social Media volunteers to manage our social media accounts by implementing strategies and tactics that grow our followers, engage and retain them, and help convert them into members, customers, and active fans and promoters of Wishaw YMCA. This is a great opportunity to shape the future of Wishaw YMCA through assisting the board to develop a meaningful and relevant social media strategy. Duties would also include website maintenance and using our social media profiles to reach as large an audience as possible to promote our activities. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and assist a key area of our organisation which we believe will make a real difference to lives within our local community. This role is assisting at local community events where food service is an element of the programme delivery. As a foodservice assistant will develop valuable knowledge and skills for your CV and acquire experience and understanding of how a local charity operates whilst gaining a real sense of achievement in the process. Volunteers would be expected to commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours per fortnight for at least 12 months. Previous foodservice experience is desirable though not essential however it is very important in this role that you enjoy meeting new people and enjoy having a “natter”… If you are friendly and approachable and consider yourself a good listener then this is a great opportunity to get out of the house and meet new people while really making a difference.
