-to promote sport within the community.

Current opportunities

Albury Outdoor Sports Hub (Scottish charity number: SC051926), a volunteer partnership between members of the local community and Sport Aberdeen has been in place for more than ten years, successfully operating this city centre outdoor sports facility, offering tennis, green bowling, petanque, croquet and the only public 18 hole putting green in Aberdeen. Recently the Hub became a Registered Charity and seeks to build up its Trustee membership in order to maintain and develop the high standard of outdoor sports provision which is greatly appreciated by the community. We would welcome members from both the local community and the wider area who support the aims of the charity, to be involved as Trustee Members and potentially willing to become Board members involved in managing and progressing the various activities at the Hub. We are also seeking to increase our volunteer team which runs the Hub on a two-hour shift basis, from mid-April to mid-September each year. Further details are to be found on our website – www.alburyhub.org.uk or by emailing enquiries@alburyhub.org

Interested in getting involved in a vibrant community-led sports project? Albury Outdoor Sports Centre is a small community facility in the centre of Aberdeen which is a working partnership with residents in the community and Sport Aberdeen and run by volunteers. We are keen to recruit volunteers to help cover shifts at the centre during our summer season opening hours, (Mon to Fri 3 – 9pm, and Sat & Sun 1-5pm, April to September). Shifts are split into two hour blocks, with volunteers working in pairs. General duties can include putting out equipment, taking bookings, operating the till, and potentially opening or closing the centre (depending on the shift signed up for). Although Albury is a sports centre, no sports experience is required although volunteering at the Centre can earns membership discounts! The Albury Outdoor Sports Centre has been run by volunteers since May 2011, and usage of the centre has increased year on year, due to the dedication and commitment of the volunteers involved. The centre would not be able to open without the continued support of volunteers, and new volunteers are always welcomed. Our main aims are to: (i) promote the Centre within the local community and to encourage all to join regardless of ability or age, and (ii) maximise usage of the Centre through development of services and facilities.
