Current opportunities

The position is one of responsibility for the general health and safety of patients and visitors to the hospital during COVID-19 To provide support to hospital staff, ensuring patients and visitors are directed to the correct department whilst ensuring physical distancing and PPE guidelines are followed. Main Duties • To greet patients/visitors in a friendly and professional manner on their entry to the building. • To control access to the hospital ensuring all entrants to the building have a previously arranged appointment. • To contact departments to triage situation, if needed. • To record information on a patient audit to monitor footfall. • To direct patients and visitors to the PPE and Hand Sanitising Stations and monitor when these stocks need replenished. • To ensure all patients and visitors adhere to physical distancing and PPE guidelines. • To ensure entrants, if they are accompanied, meet the latest PD and PPE guidelines. • To direct patients and visitors to the correct department. • To be familiar with the local fire plan and observe fire regulations. Personal Requirements • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with the public. • Organised, focused and able to follow details given in instructions. • Physically fit for job requirements. • Ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure. • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and empathise. • Patience and tolerance. • Excellent verbal skills. • Good reasoning and decision making skills. • Ability to handle sensitive situations. • Flexibility in relation to job demands. • Ability to work well on own initiative. • PVG/background check required Communication and relationship skills • The post holder may be required to communicate confidential information to hospital staff. • The post holder must maintain an appropriate level of discretion and confidentiality at all times. • The post holder must have a sympathetic manner, when dealing with members of the public, who may at times be distressed and upset. This volunteer role is helping to support the health and safety of patients and visitors to Dr. Gray's Hospital during COVID-19. Volunteer Door Assistants will provide support to hospital staff, ensuring patients and visitors are welcomed and directed to the correct department whilst ensuring physical distancing and PPE guidelines are followed. Shifts are 2 hours long and flexible - Monday through to Friday and there is some availability to help on evenings and weekends, although days are the priority just now.
